the first time that a friend died I didn't know what to say the second time it happened I learned not to say a thing the third time I found out saying nothing really hurts the fourth time, saying anything can sometimes be so much worse I gave up on trying harder and only got real sad I tried staying silent but I still got so goddamn mad went away for a while when I didn't feel so bad being away from it all with friends made me so glad sure I drink a lot but I don't drink to forget I don't drink to numb the feelings inside my head i don't want to run away from all that instead I want to run away with someone and not where we're headed at all where we're headed at all where we're headed at all the first time that a friend died I was speechless enough my first time with a broken heart made me a little more tough but I still want all that peace, love, happiness, and stuff a broken heart can never ever ever ever ever ever ever get enough I want to see my mother and I want to see my dad I want to see my sister cuz I've always thought she's so rad I love my family and I love my friends I love my enemies and all the hate mail they send so I hope that you remember when you go to bed all of your loved ones, living and dead and all of the times you've spent with them all of the lovely times you've spent with them

So this is it the end of the world now It's funny to be standing here with you Been through so much, died so many times in your arms, never going back Can't cross these paths again; they're set in stone But that never stopped you, did it? The flower in your name, the wolf of your eyes Won't burn again so bright as tonight So step inside, let me show you just how very far I will go Take my hand, say you trust me I'll show you just how far we will go So this is it the end of the world now It's funny to be standing here with you You see the stars shine, I brought them to you I hope you like the way they'll sparkle when they burn out like they all do Everything dies, every living thing must die So cling to me, let's see the world and just how very far we can go Take my hand, say you love me I'll try to not fade away too soon 'cause this is it the end of the world it's been so lovely to 've been standing next to you

you left a note on my dresser i don't remember you leaving i woke up late and your weren't there … just a strand of your hair; and this note you left on my dresser beside my house keys and the tips I made working bar last night and my deodorant you left a note on my dresser can't bring myself to read it cuz i know that things have been rocky and our love might be falling through and I hope this note on my dresser isn't all that i have let of you we met when we were too young too dumb and ignorant but i spent the summer beside you and you made me better so this note you left on my dresser better not be my last words with you I'll want to say that I wronged you I'll want to say how sorry I am I'll even write you a letter but it's better that I don't send it you left on my dresser before I woke today beside my house keys right above my sock drawer you left a note on my dresser i don't remember you leaving i woke up late and your weren't there … just a strand of your hair; and this note you left on my dresser

the wilderness wants you again the wilderness only wants to be your friend you can push it away if you want but I don't suggest it that woman is calling again she only wants to be your friend but I think you want more than good looks on Thursdays you can stay with me if you need a place to stay you can run away if you need to get away the wilderness came by again I think it only wants to be your friend or at least that's what I got from the cryptic note it left I don't think she's coming home again I don't think it's your broken heart she's gonna mend but you can hope so, you can hope so you can stay with me if you need a place to stay you can run away if you need to get away you can lie with me if you want someone to lie beside but don't lie to me ever… don't do it the wilderness wants inside the wilderness wants behind your eyes this is the time lovers say "it'll all be fine" maybe it's time to try leaving all those other thoughts behind and finding another mind to crawl inside you can stay with me if you need a place to stay you can run away if you need to get away you can lie with me if you want someone to lie beside but don't lie to me ever… don't do it the wilderness wants you again the wilderness only wants to be your friend you can push it away if you want but I don't suggest it that woman is calling again she only wants to be your friend but I think you want more than good looks on Thursdays

i watched a woman speak into the mouth of the man she loved saying that she needed him and then I watched him turn away I watched the frantic, the searching, the videotapes scatter across the living room but still no one heard a single word she said it was all lipstick and white sheets, wordless and wonderful and she loved him like she never knew she could the way she'd always laughed about and this woman was beautiful, so scarred and selfish a pessimist because she couldn't afford to be hopeful and she'd pray at night and she'd pray at night for something else to love
